Romany Explorer seat repair

When I purchased the 3-piece Romany Explorer the previous owner very openly pointed out to me that the seat was all cracked. I didn't worry too much about it as I already had in mind how to fix it.

First I dismantled the seat and I saw that the unsupported seat had carved into the hull below.

For the repair I layered the bottom with two / three sheets of fiberglass

After some reasoning I decided to place the seat directly supported by the hull by means of cradles and two lateral centering pads. The cradles and pads are made with PVC foam that I have resin coated with fiberglass for greater structural strength.

I temporarily glued the seat with Kostrufiss (water hardening polyurethane adhesive) and after a paddling test I decided to fix it permanently with fiberglass straps.

Speriamo!

In this way the seat is very integral with the hull and transmits the commands of my body well. Furthermore, being mounted with extended and fixed support points, it should no longer move, thus avoiding chafing the hull again. Let's hope!
